Large Abstract Paintings
Flower stems reach up either side of this canvas with multi-coloured flower heads, including red poppy flowers, on top of them. In the centre of the painting a footpath divides the flower meadow in two and heads in to the bright distance. This is a new grass meadow painting I recently finished. It’s on a very wide 244 cm / 8 foot un-stretched canvas. I have painted the grass stems with lots of different colours, in addition to the background yellow colour. The grass rises up to the top of the picture at both ends of the canvas. A blue sky is overhead and small dots of white paint all over the painting represent the shimmering and dancing light. 244 cm x 112 cm un-stretched canvas.
Here’s a new drip painting from my studio. This style of canvas is one of my favourites to paint, full of bright colours and vitality. There’s a particular emphasis on blue and yellow in this painting but it features many other colours as well. I can paint a similar canvas for you with your own custom size and colour scheme.
When I paint canvases with lines and stripes that drip from one side to the other, it’s normally with the drips travelling from top to bottom with the canvas in the landscape orientation. However, this time I decided to paint a canvas with the top layer of drips travelling from left to right. One side of this canvas has quite a lot of yellow paint and the other side has quite a lot of lilac paint. However, I’ve used many other colours of paint as well. Underneath there are also drips travelling vertically as I often like my paintings like this to not be too regimented in the way I paint them.
This painting focusses on a range of lighter shades of colours, with particular emphasis on pink and metallic gold. The colours are densely packed at the top of the painting and gradually transition to mainly white at the bottom of the painting. I regularly paint other ‘vertical drip’ canvases with different combinations and balances of colours.

I finished this canvas today. Like most of my original drip paintings it features a multitude of colours energetically applied to the canvas over a series of different painting sessions. White, yellow and blue are particularly prominent in this piece. I was very happy with the engaging balance of colours when I finished it.
There were lots of blackberries around a few weeks ago that inspired me to paint a picture of them. This canvas features a bunch of blackberries in a white dot and spot style on an orange background. The un-stretched canvas measures 160 cm x 112 cm. Many small dots of white paint were carefully added to the painted orange background to build up the picture. These canvases are best viewed from a distance to really appreciate them.
I was recently asked by a customer whether I could paint one of my abstract red poppy flower paintings with a blue sky on a really wide 3.5 metre canvas. Some of my paintings lend themselves quite well to being painted on wider canvases and I was very happy with the results of this painting. The canvas is now rolled up in a cardboard shipping tube and is ready for dispatch with the courier tomorrow.
