Large Abstract Paintings
There were lots of blackberries around a few weeks ago that inspired me to paint a picture of them. This canvas features a bunch of blackberries in a white dot and spot style on an orange background. The un-stretched canvas measures 160 cm x 112 cm. Many small dots of white paint were carefully added to the painted orange background to build up the picture. These canvases are best viewed from a distance to really appreciate them.
My customers very kindly sent me this photo of one of my tree paintings. They opted for a chic black frame to surround the canvas and I think it looks fantastic. Although most customers simply display the painting as a stretched canvas without an external frame, some do pay their picture framer extra to have a traditional picture frame added as well, like in this case. I was recently asked by a customer whether I could paint one of my abstract red poppy flower paintings with a blue sky on a really wide 3.5 metre canvas. Some of my paintings lend themselves quite well to being painted on wider canvases and I was very happy with the results of this painting. The canvas is now rolled up in a cardboard shipping tube and is ready for dispatch with the courier tomorrow.
This is the first time I’ve painted one of my vertical drip paintings on a black background. A black background can often help to really emphasise the bright colours that I then apply on top of it. Each of these paintings has a unique combination of colours that makes it a one-of-a-kind original artwork.
I finished this new original abstract flower painting yesterday. There are a variety of different coloured flowers but the dominant colour is red. The flowers curve up to the top at both ends of the canvas whilst you can see more of the blue sky in the central portion of the painting. This un-stretched canvas measures 160cm x 112cm. It’s a very colourful and uplifting painting that I hope will bring joy and sunshine to someone’s room.
I’m continuing to experiment with dot and spot paintings. I particularly like the combination of white dots on a black background. The black paint was brushed on quite thickly to give some texture to the surface. Many white dots and spots of paint were then added with a small brush to create the sheep. I would like to try some more black and white dot paintings in this style soon, including perhaps some very large facial portraits.
This is my second leaf and berry painting. The first one was painted on a black background and this time I decided to try painting a similar picture on a yellow background instead. It consists of many small dots and spots of white paint that have been carefully applied on top of the yellow background. If you’re looking for a bright and colourful yellow and white original canvas with a nature theme this could be the one for you!
This is the second tree canvas I finished last week. As we’re now in September it seemed appropriate to paint a new orange and yellow tree that hints at some of the glorious Autumn colours we’ll soon be seeing. Orange is certainly one of my favourite colours!
Here’s a new tree painting I finished last week. It features lots of green and red in the leaf area, as well as many other colours. Sometimes customers ask me to paint a similar tree for them but with a custom colour scheme. I’m more than happy to do this and I then do my best to follow the colour scheme.
Yesterday a recent customer of mine sent me this lovely photo of a yellow starburst painting I did. He made a wooden stretcher frame himself and stretched the canvas on to it. The result is fantastic! Customer photos are always a great way of seeing how my art looks in different real-life settings.
